Considers that during the previous parliamentary term, the European Parliament did not have a legal basis to justify reserving building land with a view to a possible enlargement of the European Union, in the context of institutional dialogue with the Belgian Federal Government; the enlargement project was surrounded by great uncertainty and Parliament's Bureau was unable to take official decisions about enlargement until it had the legal basis of the Treaty of Nice and the confirmation of the Copenhagen European Council; at that time, the rights of ownership of the adjacent plots of land were already in the lands of SA Promotion Léopold and SA Immomills Louis De Waele Development;

Questionné dernièrement en Chambre sur cette question, le ministre de l'Industrie, complaisant et même cynique envers mon collègue d'Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, a soutenu que le gouvernement fédéral possédait déjà les outils nécessaires pour favoriser la reconversion et que les programmes existants étaient appropriés pour soutenir pareil mandat.
Recently, when questioned by my colleague, the hon. member for Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, the Minister of Industry was rather smug and cynical. He said that the federal government already has all the tools needed to promote conversion and that the existing programs were enough to help them fill their mandate.
