les Inuits en leur offrant de meille ...[+++]urs logements; troisièmement, bâtir dans l'Arctique une station de recherche de calibre mondial qui sera à l'avant-garde pour les enjeux importants dans l'Arctique, dont les sciences environnementales et l'exploitation des ressources — une station de recherche bâtie par et pour les Canadiens, mais pour servir également la communauté internationale; quatrièmement, terminer la cartographie complète des fonds de l'Arctique au Canada; cinquièmement, construire huit nouveaux navires de patrouille dans l'Arctique comme complément d'une surveillance aérienne accrue pour protéger l'Extrême-Nord du Canada, dont le passage du Nord-Ouest; sixièmement, accroître le nombre et les capacités des rangers de l'Arctique pour qu'ils puissent mieux patrouiller notre vaste territoire arctique; septièmement, installer un centre d'entraînement aux opérations militaires dans le Nord et déployer en permanence au moins 1 000 soldats canadiens dans l'Arctique; enfin, construire un port en eau profonde ultramoderne et complètement équipé à Nanisivik, dans le nord de l'île de Baffin.I urge us all to get behind and enthusiastically support the proposed initiatives to, first, establish and have confi

...[+++]h station built in the Arctic by and for Canadians but also to serve the global community; fourth, to complete the comprehensive mapping of Canada's Arctic seabed; fifth, to build eight new Arctic patrol ships to complement increased aerial surveillance in guarding Canada's Far North, including the Northwest Passage; sixth, expanding the size and capabilities of the Arctic Rangers so they can better patrol our vast Arctic territory; seventh, the development of an Arctic warfare training centre and the deployment on an ongoing basis of at least 1,000 Canadian soldiers in the Arctic; and finally, the construction of a modern state-of-the-art and fully equipped deepwater port at Nanisivik on northern Baffin Island.
