Urges the Ukrainian authorities to investigate the role of the Security Services of Ukraine (SBU) and its apparent involvement in the domestic political environment; considers that the Law on Security Services, and especially the provisions that give SBU the authority to conduct normal criminal investigations, should be thoroughly reviewed with the aim of bringing them fully into line with European standards; preoccupied by the conflict of interest of its SBU Head, Mr Khoroshkovsky, who is at the same time a member of the High Council of Justice and an influential business man in Ukraine, whose financial holdings have a considerable impact on the public sphere;
