Calls for the ESRP to be allocated sufficient funding in accordance with the recommendations of the Group of Personalities (GoP) amounting to EUR 1 billion annually in addition to all current Community, national or intergovernmental funding; calls on the Commission to act in order to ensure that equal opportunity to collaborate in the European Security Research Programme will be offered to all Member States; stresses that funding of the ESRP should not lead to a reduction in funding levels in other areas of Community research which are vital for the security and safety of Europe’s citizens and the world at large;
