Recalls the revised rules in the Regulation (EC) No 546/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 June 2009 amending Regulation (EC) No 1927/2006 on establishing the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for the benefit of workers who suffer from the consequences of major structural changes in world trade patterns, to assist them with their reintegration into the labour market; recalls that the above-mentioned revision aimed at widening the application of the fund should take into account the effects of the current economic crisis; stresses the need to have a thorough examination of the EGF in the mid-term review;
