In the light of the recent confirmation concerning the falsification of data by British Nuclear Fuels Limited concerning nuclear by-products exported to Japan and in the context of my former question No H-0504/99 where I drew attention to allegations of irregularities in checks on nuclear fuel destined for export and the Commission’s reply that it would decide, once the results of the investigation were available, whether Commission competence was involved, will the Commission now state its position on competence and will it urge the British Government to refuse to grant future licences to British Nuclear Fuels Limited to manufacture Mox fuel?
