C’est pourquoi je souhaite évoquer la question des signatures numériques dans l’initiative citoyenne, en tant que canal supplémentaire pour susciter l’intérêt pour la politique européenne.

Au travers du présent rapport, la commission de la femme souhaite sensibiliser l'opinion publique européenne au droit des personnes handicapées d'être protégées contre la discrimination et de jouir pleinement et équitablement de leurs droits. Elle entend également susciter une réflexion et un débat sur les mesures nécessaires pour promouvoir l'égalité et l'échange d'expérience, renforcer la coopération entre toutes les parties prenantes, améliorer la communication sur le handicap et promouvoir une image positive des personnes handicapées. Elle compte en outre sensibiliser l'opinion publique à l'hétérogénéité des formes de handicap et de discrimination et mettre l'accent sur la sensibilisation au droit des enfants et des jeunes handicapés à l'égalité en matière d'enseignement afin de favoriser et de soutenir leur pleine intégration dans la société et d'encourager la mise en place d'une coopération européenne entre les professionnels de l'enseignement destiné aux enfants et aux jeunes handicapés en vue d'améliorer l'intégration des élèves et des étudiants ayant des besoins spécifiques dans les centres traditionnels ou spécialisés, ainsi que leur participation aux programmes d'échange nationaux et européens.
By means of this report the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality wishes to raise public awareness of disabled people's right to protection against discrimination and to full and fair enjoyment of their rights; to prompt consideration and discussion of the action which needs to be taken in order to promote equality and the exchange of experience, to extend cooperation amongst all the parties involved, to improve communication regarding disability and to promote a positive image of disabled people; to raise awareness regarding the heterogeneous nature of the forms which disability and discrimination take and to devote particular attention to raising awareness regarding the right of disabled children and young people to equality in education as a means of facilitating and supporting their full integration within society and with a view to furthering the development of cooperation at European level amongst education professionals who work with disabled children and young people, in order to improve the integration of pupils and students with specific needs within ordinary or specialist schools and in exchange programmes at Member-State and EU level.

32. Notes that Indians have concerns about the EU and wish to study and understand it better; welcomes the Erasmus Mundus EUR 33 million scholarship scheme, with specific emphasis to be placed on collaboration in science and technology, where lessons from India's success could boost EU performance in the pyramid underlying the information society, namely: education, research and development and innovation; welcomes the creation of a Jean Monnet Chair in European Studies at the University of Delhi as a vital initiative to strengthen EU-Indian relations; calls on the Commission's Delegation and Member State Embassies to work with the Indian authorities to promote the proper role of the EU in fostering educational, cultural and scientific exchanges, and suggests that cultural exchanges would help create broad public support for constructive collaboration and that professional and business exchanges, could also be beneficial, both for cross-cultural understanding and to promote a two-way flow of information; highlights the success of the Executive Training Programme - People to People Exchange - that exists with Japan and Korea and urges the Commission to extend the programme to India, with the appropriate funding;
