Compared to the previous survey of spring 2016, support for the priority topics set by the European Commission has increased further.

(xii) to ensure that TTIP includes a specific chapter on SME’s in TTIP based on the joint commitment of both negotiating parties and aims at creating new opportunities in the US for European SMEs (including micro enterprises), on the basis of SME exporters’ actual reported experience, for instance by eliminating double certification requirements, by establishing a web-based information system about the different regulations and best practices, by facilitating access to support schemes for SME, by introducing ‘fast-track’ procedures at the border or by eliminating specific tariff peaks that continue to exist; it should establish mechanisms for both sides to work together to facilitate SMEs’ participation in transatlantic trade and investment, for instance through a common SME ‘one-stop shop’ with SMEs stakeholders playing a key role in its establishment, which would provide specific information they need to export to, import from or invest in the US, including on customs duties, on taxes, on regulations, on custom procedures and on market opportunities;

Par son pourvoi introduit au titre de l’article 9 de l’annexe I du statut de la Cour de justice de l’Union européenne, la Commission des Communautés européennes demande l’annulation de l’arrêt du Tribunal de la fonction publique de l’Union européenne (première chambre) du 14 octobre 2008, Meierhofer/Commission (F‑74/07, non encore publié au Recueil, ci-après l’« arrêt attaqué »), par lequel celui-ci a annulé la décision du 19 juin 2007 du jury du concours EPSO/AD/26/05 confirmant l’échec du requérant en première instance à l’épreuve orale dudit concours.
In its appeal, brought under Article 9 of Annex I to the Statute of the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Commission of the European Communities is seeking to have set aside the judgment of the European Union Civil Service Tribunal (First Chamber) of 14 October 2008 in Case F‑74/07 Meierhofer v Commission [2008] ECR-SC I‑A‑1-0000 and II‑A-1-0000 (‘the judgment under appeal’), by which the Tribunal annulled the decision of the selection board in Competition EPSO/AD/26/05 of 19 June 2007 confirming that Mr Meierhofer had failed the oral test for that competition.

Calls for the definitive bodies (Political and Security Committee, Military Committee and Military Staff) to be established as soon as possible and for the capabilities still available to the WEU, including the Satellite Centre and Institute for Security Studies, to be swiftly transferred to the European Union; calls in addition for the creation of a specialist body responsible for data collection and analysis;

Comme le mentionne le document précité de la Commission relatif à la lutte contre le terrorisme, il serait souhaitable d'améliorer la coordination des activités antiterroristes au sein même des institutions européennes (en suivant l'exemple de la rédaction conjointe du recueil d'évaluations de la menace terroriste par les groupes COTER et TWG ou encore les réunions mixtes de ces deux groupes de travail du Conseil) et de renforcer le rôle du groupe de travail Terrorisme dans l'élaboration des politiques européennes.
As is pointed out in the above-mentioned Commission paper on fighting terrorism, there are good arguments to improve the coordination of counter-terrorism activities inside the EU institutions (following the good example of the EU compendium of threat assessments written by TWG and COTER, or common meetings of these two working parties) and to reinforce the role of the Terrorism Working Group in preparing EU policy-making.
