On 17 April 2012, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 (1) by which the undertaking AGC Glass Europe SA, (‘AGC’, Belgium), controlled by Asahi Glass Co., Ltd (‘Asahi’, Japan), acquires within the meaning of Article 3(1)(b) of the Merger Regulation joint control of the whole of the undertakings Interpane International Glas GmbH (Germany) and Interpane Glass Holding AG (Switzerland) (together, ‘Interpane’) by way of purchase of shares.

Brussels, 29 May 2012 - The European Commission has cleared under the Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of a controlling stake in Interpane International Glas GmbH (Germany) and Interpane Glass Holding AG (Switzerland) (together, "Interpane") by AGC Glass Europe SA (Belgium), controlled by Asahi Glass Co., Ltd (Japan).

À l’issue de l'opération, Interpane Glass Holding AG (Suisse) se consacrera aux activités liées au vitrage solaire du groupe Interpane tandis qu’Interpane International Glas GmbH prendra les autres activités en charge.
Post-transaction Interpane Glass Holding AG (Switzerland) will hold the solar glass activities of the Interpane group while Interpane International Glas GmbH will hold the remaining business.
