Dans mon rapport annuel, j'ai demandé au Service correctionnel du Canada d'agir rapidement afin de renforcer la mise en oeuvre de son plan stratégique pour les délinquants autochtones en donnant suite aux recommandations suivantes au cours de l'année: adopter un processus de classement selon le niveau de sécurité qui met fin au placement d'un trop grand nombre de délinquants autochtones dans des établissements à sécurité maximale; augmenter considérablement le nombre de délinquants autochtones hébergés dans des établissements à sécurité minimale; accroître l'accès, en temps opportun, à des programmes et à des services adaptés à la culture autochtone; augmenter considérablement le recours à des permissions de sortir sans escorte et à des programmes de placement à l'extérieur; augmenter considérablement le nombre de délinquants autochtones qui comparaissent devant la Commission nationale des libérations conditionnelles dès leurs premières dates d'admissibilité; établir une capacité de conclure des ententes qui permettent aux collectivités autochtones d'appuyer directement les délinquants mis en liberté sous condition au moment opportun et accroître le recours à ces ententes; et enfin, augmenter considérablement le nombre d'Autochtones qui travaillent à tous les niveaux au sein du Service.
In my annual report, I called upon the correctional service to act swiftly to strengthen and implement its own strategic plan for aboriginal offenders by fully adopting the following recommendations within the year: implement a security classification process that will stop sending too many aboriginal offenders into maximum security; significantly increase the number of aboriginal offenders housed at minimum security; increase timely access to culturally appropriate programs and services; significantly increase the use of unescorted temporary absences and work-release programs and significantly increase the number of aboriginals appearing before the National Parole Board at their earliest eligibility date; build capacity for and increase the use of agreements, which provide for the direct involvement of aboriginal communities in supporting conditional release; and significantly increase the number of aboriginal people working at all levels of the service.

This includes ensuring that Canada’s foreign policy reflects Canadian values; advancing Canada’s national interests; strengthening rules-based trading arrangements and expanding free and fair market access at bilateral, regional and global levels; and working with a broad range of partners inside and outside government to increase economic opportunities and enhance security for Canadians and Canadian businesses. The Embassy of Canada to Ireland, under the leadership of the ambassador, seeks to advance these priorities by representing Canada’s interests in Ireland.

The amendment reads as follows: “That the motion be amended by replacing all the words after 'quotas' with 'and also ensure an agreement that strengthens the international marketing position of Canada's agricultural exporters so that all sectors can continue to provide producers with a fair and equitable income'”.
