Involving organisations such as the European Patent Office, the Office of Harmonisation for the Internal Market (including through possible secondments to EU Delegations) and the Community Plant Variety Office will enhance our capacity to design and implement effective assistance.

Je voudrais également demander à la Commission et au Conseil d’associer notre délégation du Parlement aux travaux des Conférences pour qu’on ne soit pas, comme d’habitude, contraints de hanter les couloirs dans l’espoir d’y glaner des informations, et, encore, lorsque le Conseil et la Commission veulent bien nous inviter!
I should also like to ask the Commission and the Council to involve our parliamentary delegation in the work of the Conferences so that we are not forced, as we usually are, to skulk around the corridors in the hope of gleaning some information from them, and that is when the Council and the Commission see fit to invite us!

La situation est donc dramatique et je crois que, même si notre délégation ad hoc est parfaitement informée et s’apprête à soutenir à la fois le sommet alternatif et la société civile en Tunisie, il nous faudrait peut-être également, Monsieur le Président, secouer le cocotier du Conseil quant à la situation en Tunisie, en demandant notamment à ce dernier de réunir de toute urgence un Conseil d’association qui permette d’évaluer l’accord qui nous lie à ce pays, lequel, décidément, est chaque jour plus décevant.
This is therefore a tragic situation, and I believe that, even if our ad hoc delegation is completely up to speed with the situation and is preparing to support both the alternative summit and civil society in Tunisia, we perhaps also ought to make the Council sit up and take note of the situation in Tunisia, by specifically calling for the Council urgently to gather together an Association Council enabling us to assess the agreement that links us to this country which, without a shadow of a doubt, is more and more disappointing each day.
