– (DE) Madam President, when I took over responsibility for the situation in the beekeeping sector in the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development from my German fellow Member, Reimer Böge, 16 years ago, another German MEP said to me rather disparagingly: ‘Oh, I see, the little creatures for the little countries’.

Au cours de la séance du 6 juillet 2006, le Président du Parlement européen a annoncé qu'il avait reçu une lettre du Procureur général du Parquet près de la Cour d'Appel de Bruxelles contenant une demande de levée de l'immunité parlementaire de M. Vural Öger, député européen allemand.
At the session of 6 July 2006, the President of Parliament announced that he had received a letter from the public prosecutor of the Brussels Court of Appeal requesting waiver of the parliamentary immunity of Mr Vural Öger, a German Member of the European Parliament.

L'enquête du médiateur dans cette affaire fait suite à une plainte du député européen allemand Elmar Brok et d'un représentant des jeunes du parti allemand de la CDU, alléguant que le règlement intérieur du Conseil n'est pas conforme à l'article 1, paragraphe 2, du traité sur l'Union européenne (tel qu'il a été modifié par le traité d'Amsterdam en 1997) selon lequel le Conseil et les autres institutions et organes communautaires doivent prendre leurs décisions dans le plus grand respect possible du principe d'ouverture et le plus près possible des citoyens.
The Ombudsman's inquiry into this matter is based on a complaint by Mr Elmar Brok, MEP, and a representative of the youth group of the German CDU, in which they allege that the Council's Rules of Procedure are not in conformity with Article 1 (2) of the Treaty on European Union (as amended by the Treaty of Amsterdam in 1997), according to which the Council and the other Community institutions and bodies must take decisions as openly as possible and as closely as possible to the citizens.

Ceci fait suite à une plainte d'un Député européen allemand, M. Elmar Brok, qui a réclamé que le Conseil prenne ses décisions le plus ouvertement possible.
This followed a complaint from the German MEP, Elmar Brok, who argued that Council decisions must be taken as openly as possible.

Nikiforos Diamandouros, a ouvert une enquête suite à une plainte introduite par le député européen allemand, Elmar Brok, et un représentant du groupe des jeunes de la CDU (Union Démocratique Chrétienne) alléguant un manque de transparence du Conseil dans son activité législative.
The European Ombudsman, P. Nikiforos Diamandouros, has opened an inquiry into the alleged lack of transparency of the Council acting in its legislative capacity. This follows a complaint from German MEP, Elmar Brok, and a representative of the youth group of the CDU (Christian Democratic Union).
