Recent evidence reveals that more consumers are now interested in making cross-border purchases (52%, +19 percentage points) and are willing to spend more money cross-border (18%, +5 percentage points) than in 2006, when the Directive had not yet been transposed in the Member States.[11] The Unfair Commercial Practices Directive has played its part in generating this more open attitude amongst European consumers, as it is one of the main EU legislative tools devised to boost their confidence and stimulate cross-border trade.
