S'agissant du projet de loi S-14, en 1997, M. Dupont nous faisait part de certaines de ses inquiétudes au sujet du contenu du projet de loi S-12, tel qu'il était connu à l'époque. Il parlait surtout de l'éventuelle incertitude juridique relative à l'application des lois, des règles applicables à l'interaction entre les lois des Premières nations et celles des gouvernements fédéral et provinciaux et de la pertinence des différentes lois en cas de conflit.
Speaking briefly to Bill S-14, Mr. Dupont in 1997 outlined a number of concerns about the content of what was then Bill S-12, most notably the potential legal uncertainty regarding the application of laws, the rules relating to the interaction of First Nation laws, federal laws and provincial laws, and which laws prevail in the event of conflict.
