– (EN) J’ai voté pour la proposition de résolution RC7-0136/2010 relative aux recommandations du rapport Goldstone, principalement parce que cette résolution insiste sur une position ferme de l’UE concernant le suivi du rapport Goldstone et qu’elle demande d’exiger publiquement la mise en œuvre de ses recommandations et la prise de responsabilités pour toutes les violations du droit international. Elle demande également à toutes les parties de mener des enquêtes conformes aux normes internationales dans un délai de 5 mois, et elle exige un contrôle actif de la mise en œuvre du rapport par la haute représentante de l’Union pour les affaires étrangères et la politique de sécurité et vice-présidente de la Commission et par les États membres de l’Union européenne.
– I voted in favour of motion for a resolution RC7-0136/2010 on the Goldstone Recommendations, mainly because it insists on asking for a strong EU position on the follow-up to the Goldstone report and that implementation of its recommendations and accountability for all violations of international law should be publicly demanded, it asks all parties to conduct investigations that meet with international standards within five months, and it demands active monitoring of the implementation of the report by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission and the EU Member States.

2. The second sentence of paragraph 1 shall not prevent national rules relating to time limits for bringing actions under national law from being relied on against workers or those claiming under them who initiated legal proceedings or raised an equivalent claim under national law before 17 May 1990, provided that they are not less favourable for that type of action than for similar actions of a domestic nature and that they do not render the exercise of rights conferred by Community law impossible in practice.

(5) Whereas action along these lines is justified at Community level not only because, compared with the general system for the recognition of diplomas, it provides lawyers with an easier means whereby they can integrate into the profession in a host Member State, but also because, by enabling lawyers to practise under their home-country professional titles on a permanent basis in a host Member State, it meets the needs of consumers of legal services who, owing to the increasing trade flows resulting, in particular, from the internal market, seek advice when carrying out cross-border transactions in which international law, Community law and domestic laws often overlap;
