G. whereas social justice and a higher standard of living for citizens are crucial dimensions of the transition towards an open, stable, democratic, free and prosperous Egyptian society; whereas Egypt continues to face worrying economic difficulties, aggravated by the loss of income from tourism and foreign direct investment; whereas fiscal consolidation, restoring economic and investor confidence, which requires political stability, and fighting corruption are indispensable to create a strong Egyptian economy; whereas the Egyptian economy needs further support from the international community, including the EU, to meet these challenges;

7. se félicite des progrès encourageants réalisés dans les négociations sur l'accord d'association avec la Moldavie; appelle les deux parties à donner la priorité aux besoins des Moldaves, en particulier afin de surmonter les conséquences sociales de la situation économique préoccupante et de faciliter davantage le régime des visas dans le but de parvenir le plus tôt possible à la libéralisation des visas; est d'avis que le libre-échange n'est pas une solution appropriée pour aider la Moldavie à surmonter ses difficultés économiques;
7. Welcomes the encouraging progress in the negotiations on the Association Agreement with Moldova: calls on both sides to give priority to the needs of the people of Moldova, in particular with a view to overcome the social consequences of the difficult economic situation and to further facilitate the visa regime with the aim to arriving as soon as possible at visa liberalisation: takes the view that free trade is not the appropriate way to help Moldova to overcome economic problems;
