Monsieur le Président, conformément au paragraphe 34(1) du Règlement, j'ai l'honneur de présenter à la Chambre, dans les deux langues officielles, le rapport de la délégation canadienne du Groupe interparlementaire Canada-États-Unis concernant sa participation aux deux réunions suivantes: premièrement, la 52 réunion annuelle et forum politique régional de la Conférence régionale de l'Est du Conseil des gouvernements des États, qui a eu lieu du 20 au 23 juillet 2012 à Atlantic City, au New Jersey; deuxièmement, la 67 réunion annuelle de la Conférence législative du Midwest du Conseil des gouvernements des États, qui a eu lieu du 15 au 18 juillet 2012 à Cleveland, en Ohio.
Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 34(1) I have the honour to present to the House, in both official languages, the following report of the Canadian delegation of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group respecting its participation in the following two meetings: the first is the 52nd annual meeting and regional policy forum of the Council of State Governments' Eastern Regional Conference, which was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on July 20 to 23, 2012; second is the 67th annual meeting of the Council of State Governments' Midwestern Legislative Conference, which was held in Cleveland, Ohio, July 15 to 18, 2012.

Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), I have the honour to present to the House, in both official languages, the following reports of the Canadian parliamentary delegation of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group and its participation in the following meetings: first, the U.S. congressional meetings that were held in Washington, D.C., March 1-2, 2011; second, the fourth annual conference of the Southeastern United States-Canadian Provinces Alliance held in Fredericton, New Brunswick, June 12-14, 2011; and third, the Western Governors Association annual meeting held in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, June 29 to July 1, 2011.

In this connection, we particularly welcome the initiatives of the European institutions for greater responsibility and greater ownership at Community level, as well as the valuable contributions made, for example, by the second interparliamentary meeting between the European Parliament and the national parliaments.

The second coincidence is that the interparliamentary meeting with the People’s Republic of China is being held now, which gives us the opportunity to communicate the depth of our feeling and the strength of our expectations for Macao and its future.
