(EN) Ensuring the protection of EU geographical indications (GIs) in third countries has been an objective of the EU’s commercial policy for a long time and all-the-more-so in the last few years, where the EC has successfully concluded bilateral agreements with Canada, Chile, South-Africa and has begun negotiations with the United States, Mercosur and Switzerland.

(b) The Parties shall endeavour to bring under the terms of this Agreement those existing arrangements for scientific and technological cooperation between the Community and Canada that fall under the scope of Article 4.
