Les objects de cet accord sont: - d'une part, instaurer une coopération entre l'Union européenne et les Etats-Unis afin de poursuivre un objectif de simplification des procédures douanières et, par là, de facilitation du commerce; - d'autre part, mettre en place une assistance mutuelle, c'est-à-dire un mécanisme d'échange d'informations entre autorités douanières, afin de poursuivre un objectif de lutte contre la fraude commerciale.
The objectives of this agreement are the following: 1. to establish cooperation between the United States and the European Union with a view to simplifying customs procedures and, in doing so, facilitating trade; 2. to establish mutual assistance, i.e. a mechanism of exchange of information between the customs authorities, with a view to fighting commercial fraud.
