2. La convention énoncée à l’Annexe de la présente loi est par les présentes approuvée, sous la réserve que, outre les droits attribués ci-après à la province de l’Alberta, ladite province doit jouir de tous autres droits, s’il en est, concernant le sujet de ladite convention, dont il pourra être nécessaire d’investir ladite province afin qu’elle puisse jouir de droits égaux à ceux qui peuvent être conférés ou réservés à la province de la Saskatchewan en vertu de toute convention sur un sujet semblable dorénavant approuvée et ratifiée de la même manière que pour ladite convention.
2. The agreement set out in the schedule hereto is hereby approved, subject to the proviso that, in addition to the rights accruing hereunder to the province of Alberta, the said province shall be entitled to such further rights, if any, with respect to the subject matter of the said agreement as are required to be vested in the said province in order that it may enjoy rights equal to those which may be conferred upon or reserved to the province of Saskatchewan under any agreement upon a like subject matter hereafter approved and confirmed in the same manner as the said agreement.

Question No. 6 Ms. Judy Wasylycia-Leis: With respect to United Nations conventions and treaties to which Canada is a signatory: (a) what are the federal government’s criteria for assessing individual provincial and territorial endorsement for ratifying a treaty or convention; (b) as of November 1, 2008, which provinces and territories have, according to these criteria, endorsed ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (the Convention); (c) what steps will be undertaken by the government to secure endorsement by the remaining provinces and territories; (d) when is the next federal-provincial-territorial ministerial meeting on human rights scheduled and will Convention ratification be on the agenda of that meeting; (e) has the Convention been added to the list of international human rights treaties and conventions that are standing items on meeting agendas of the Continuing Committee of Officials on Human Rights (CCOHR); (f) has progress on the ratification process for the Convention been discussed at CCOHR meetings and what is the status of that progress as of November 1, 2008 according to the minutes of those meetings; (g) is the target date for the completion of consultations with the provinces and territories on the ratification of the Convention within the required timeframe to permit Canada to participate fully in the first meeting of States party to the Convention, expected in November 2008, to chart the oversight committee’s future course and, if not, why not; (h) what is the federal government’s criteria for assessing individual provincial and territorial endorsement for signing the Optional Protocol of an international treaty; (i) as of November 1, 2008, which provinces and territories have, according to these criteria, endorsed Canada signing the Optional Protocol of the Convention; and (j) has progress on signing the Optional Protocol for the Convention been discussed at CCOHR meetings and what is th ...

6. REAFFIRMS that the aim of the European Community and the Member States is that further POP substances be included under the Stockholm Convention in order to contribute to achieving the 2020 chemicals target adopted at the World Summit on Sustainable Development; WELCOMES and SUPPORTS the efforts by the Commission and Member States to identify and prioritise between the potential POP substances, including the Commission’s proposal for the nomination of new POPs; RECOMMENDS that the European Community and the Member States announce at COP 2 their intention of making a proposal for at least two and up to four additional substances, to be forwarded to the Secretariat, in order to allow examination by the second meeting of the POPs Review Committee. The submission of further substances will require a decision by the Council;
