Lors de chacun de ces élargissements, la Communauté a gagné en profondeur, avec la création de la CEE et de l’Euratom en 1957, la promulgation de l’Acte unique européen en 1986 et l’entrée en vigueur du traité de Maastricht en 1992, en relation avec lequel nous devons rappeler les importantes contributions du Chancelier Helmut Kohl, du Président François Mitterrand et du Président de la Commission Jacques Delors, dont le travail a été poursuivi avec succès par Jacques Santer.
