La Commission réexamine actuellement les structures du PIMERB en étroite coopération avec les États membres concernés afin de rationaliser et de recentrer l’action sur les problèmes qui subsistent, notamment la connexion en synchrone des États baltes avec le réseau du continent européen, l’intégration des sources d’énergie renouvelables et l'amélioration de l’efficacité énergétique.

Notes that the outermost regions, which are affected by a whole range of structural constraints that are fully recognised in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and apply permanently, require environmentally, economically and socially sustainable measures to minimise their disadvantages compared to regions in mainland Europe, specifically as regards the additional costs incurred in selling their fishery products and, in particular, the costs of transporting them to mainland Europe;

Bien que la mise en œuvre de la recommandation 98/561/CE du Conseil du 24 septembre 1998 sur la coopération européenne visant à la garantie de la qualité dans l'enseignement supérieur (3) ait été un net succès, comme l'a montré le rapport de la Commission du 30 septembre 2004, il reste nécessaire d'améliorer les performances de l'enseignement supérieur européen, notamment en ce qui concerne la qualité, pour que cet enseignement devienne plus transparent et plus fiable aux yeux des citoyens européens, ainsi que des étudiants et des universitaires des autres continents.
Although the implementation of Council Recommendation 98/561/ΕC of 24 September 1998 on European cooperation in quality assurance in higher education (3) has been a marked success as demonstrated in the report of the Commission of 30 September 2004, there is still a need to improve the performance of European higher education, particularly as regards quality, in order for it to become more transparent and trustworthy for European citizens and for students and scholars from other continents.
