8. condamne vigoureusement le recours à un procès collectif dans le cadre de la procédure judiciaire et invite les autorités égyptiennes à se conformer au droit international et à respecter les normes internationales les plus élevées en matière de droit à un procès équitable et de respect de la légalité; invite les autorités égyptiennes à libérer les personnes détenues pour avoir exercé de manière pacifique leur droit à la liberté d'expression, de réunion et d'association, tel qu'il est consacré dans la Constitution égyptienne et d'autres conventions internationales auxquelles l'Égypte est partie; manifeste une préoccupation profonde devant la grave dégradation du paysage médiatique; condamne les procès et les condamnations par contumace de journalistes égyptiens et étrangers;

Strongly condemns the use of a mass trial in the judicial process and calls on the Egyptian authorities to abide by international law and safeguard the highest international standards with regard to the right to a fair trial and due process; calls on the Egyptian authorities to release those detained for peacefully exercising their right to freedom of expression, assembly and association as enshrined in the Egyptian constitution and other international conventions to which Egypt is a party; expresses its profound preoccupation with the severe deterioration of the media environment; condemns the trials against and conviction of Egyptian and foreign journalists, in absentia;

Calls on the Egyptian authorities to revoke the Protest Law of November 2013 and to engage in a genuine dialogue with civil society organisations and legal experts in order to enact legislation on associations and assembly in line with international standards, and to safeguard the right to form an association enshrined in Article 75 of the Egyptian Constitution, including the right to receive and impart funding; calls on the competent authorities to review the new draft law for non-governmental organisations presented by the Ministry of Social Solidarity; urges that the proposed new law should be in line with the Egyptian Constitution and with all international treaties to which Egypt is a signatory;

Takes note of the result of the referendum on the new Egyptian constitution but is concerned about the actions taken against people campaigning to reject the constitution; welcomes the new Egyptian constitution’s reference to a civilian government, absolute freedom of belief, the equality of all citizens, including the improvement of women’s rights, the provision on children’s rights, the ban on torture in all forms and manifestations, the prohibition and criminalisation of any form of slavery and the commitment to abide by international human rights treaties signed by Egypt, and calls on the authorities to implement properly the approved articles and provisions; calls on the Egyptian authorities to halt completely the use of military courts to judge civilians; stresses that in a democracy with a proper balance and separation of powers, the army should be under civilian control and that additional improvements need to be made to make progress towards democratic principles and standards;
