Following the 2012 Communication on online gambling, the Commission has launched a series of initiatives, including, for example, recommendations on consumer protection and advertising in the online gambling sector, has encouraged enhanced administrative cooperation and has started an Expert Group on Gambling Services for EEA gambling regulators to exchange good practice, facilitate administrative cooperation and improve trust.

The Communication also called for a review of the existing legislation on firearms in 2016 to improve the sharing of information (e.g. by uploading information on seized firearms in Europol’s information system), to reinforce traceability, to standardise marking, and to establish common standards for neutralising firearms.

The options examined in the communication are: biofuels, natural gas and hydrogen. However, it also calls for the development of other fuels such as biogas, bioethanol, LPG and other leading-edge technologies, in particular the technology of hybrid cars (combining combustion and electric drives), which offers a degree of fuel saving comparable to that which could be provided by alternative fuels.
