Il est donc primordial d’engager ce dialogue en sachant que l’écrasante majorité des communautés musulmanes vivant dans notre communauté ne veulent rien avoir à faire avec ce qui est une interprétation perverse de leur foi, et investissent beaucoup dans l’ouverture au dialogue de mon groupe, surtout cette année, l’année du dialogue culturel.
It is important, therefore, to enter into the dialogue with the assumption that the vast majority of the Muslim communities who live in our society want nothing to do with what is a perverse interpretation of their faith, and that we invest a great deal in that broad dialogue of my group, this year too, the year of cultural dialogue.

Hopes that those Arab countries which have not yet done so will commit themselves more fully to religious freedom, or to the right of individuals and communities to freely profess their beliefs and practise their faith, also guaranteeing the independence and separation of institutions and of political power from the religious authorities; on this point, considers that the testimony of millions of Muslims living in Europe should help the Arab countries to implement on the domestic scene the consistent principle of reciprocity which underlies international relations;
