Work was also initiated in 2001 to develop a set of guidelines for the Commission’s own practices in selecting and using expertise for policy-making, with a view to a subsequent proposal for a common approach by other institutions and Member States, to establish a blueprint for European Scientific Reference Systems (ECSRS), and to exchange experience between research and regulatory bodies concerned with risk issues.
