6.2 (1) Sous réserve des autres dispositions de la présente loi, les allocations payées ou accordées en vertu des articles 4 ou 5 en date du 27 février 1995 pour un ancien combattant allié, au sens de l’alinéa 37(4)b), ou un ancien combattant allié à service double, au sens de l’alinéa 37(6)b), en leur état avant cette date, continuent d’être versées jusqu’à la mort du bénéficiaire, le dernier paiement étant pour le mois de son décès.
6.2 (1) Subject to this Act, an allowance payable under section 4 or awarded under section 5, on or before February 27, 1995, to or in respect of a person who is an allied veteran within the meaning of paragraph 37(4)(b) or an allied dual service veteran within the meaning of paragraph 37(6)(b), as those paragraphs read immediately before that day, shall continue to be paid during the lifetime of the recipient and shall cease with the payment for the month in which the recipient dies.

(2) Sous réserve des autres dispositions de la présente loi et malgré les paragraphes 4(4) et (5), le survivant ou l’orphelin d’un ancien combattant allié ou d’un ancien combattant allié à service double qui a reçu l’allocation visée au paragraphe (1) peut, à partir du 27 février 1995, faire une demande pour recevoir une allocation au titre des articles 4 et 5 jusqu’à sa mort, le dernier paiement étant pour le mois de son décès.
(2) Subject to this Act but notwithstanding subsections 4(4) and (5), a survivor or orphan of an allied veteran or an allied dual service veteran to whom payment of an allowance was continued by subsection (1) may, on or after February 27, 1995, apply for and be paid an allowance under section 4 or be awarded an allowance under section 5, and any allowance so paid or awarded shall continue to be paid during the lifetime of the recipient and shall cease with the payment for the month in which the recipient dies.

6. Les avantages prévus par le Règlement sur les soins de santé pour anciens combattants et le Règlement de 2005 sur les sépultures des anciens combattants sont aussi conférés aux anciens combattants alliés — ou à leur égard — visés à l’alinéa 37(4)d.1) ou aux paragraphes 37(4.1) ou (4.2) de la Loi sur les allocations aux anciens combattants, édictés par l’article 4, pour la période commençant le 14 octobre 2008 et se terminant le 31 décembre 2009.
6. The benefits under the Veterans Health Care Regulations and the Veterans Burial Regulations, 2005 are extended to allied veterans or in respect of allied veterans described in paragraph 37(4)(d.1) or subsection 37(4.1) or (4.2) of the War Veterans Allowance Act, enacted by section 4, for the period beginning on October 14, 2008 and ending on December 31, 2009.

H. whereas the vacuum left by the weakness of the two rival governments is gradually being filled by Libyan Islamists who are returning home from fighting in Iraq and Syria; whereas these returnees accompanied by Islamists from other countries seized the city of Derna to the east of Benghazi in November 2014 and made a pledge of allegiance to Daesh; whereas these forces or their allies have since become active along almost the whole coastline from Derna to Tripoli, including Bayda, Benghazi, Ajdabiya, Abugrein and Misrata, with full control of more than 200 km around Sirte, and they also have a training base to the west of Tripoli near the Tunisian border; whereas Daesh has launched a local campaign of terror – with beheadings, shootings and bombings – while expanding its territory, has taken control of the road and can hinder east-west connections;

(Return tabled) Question No. 6 Mr. Peter Stoffer: With respect to the Veterans Burial Regulations and the Corporation named by the Department of Veterans Affairs Act to administer the Veterans Funeral and Burial program, specifically the Last Post Fund (LPF): (a) what is the annual amount of financial support and funding provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs from 2006 to 2011 inclusively; (b) what is the statistical information, provided to the minister, on reimbursements provided by the LPF to assist in payment of funeral and burial costs for the estates of (i) First World War veterans, (ii) Second World War veterans, (iii) Korean War veterans, (iv) estates of veterans who received a disability benefit from Veterans Affairs Canada, (iv) estates of allied veterans; (c) what are the details of the annual administrative and operating costs of the LPF from 2006 to 2011 inclusively; (d) what are the details of the annual program costs of the Veterans Funeral and Burial Program from 2006 to 2011 inclusively; (e) what are the details of the annual salary costs for LPF staff from 2006 to 2011 inclusively; (f) what are the details of how frequently business plans, operating budgets, capital budgets and performance reports are submitted by the Corporation to the Minister; (g) what are the details of any departmental analysis concerning the raising of the means test for eligibility for support through the Veterans Funeral and Burial program; (h) what are the details of any departmental analysis concerning the extension of eligibility for a funeral and burial to all estate-tested Canadian Forces (CF) and RCMP veterans; (i) what is the estimated financial cost of extending eligibility to the Veterans Funeral and Burial program to all estate-tested CF and RCMP; (j) how often does the department conduct an assurance audit of the LPF; (k) when was the last time the government conducted an assurance audit of the LPF; and (l) when does the department plan to cond ...

Even more shocking, perhaps because it is an ally of ours, alongside which European armies are fighting on fronts such as Afghanistan, the USA, another State not party to the Convention, not only continues to maintain an arsenal of more than 10 million mines, but also, last year, the Pentagon requested new financing for two new types of mines incompatible with the Convention.

Rey Pagtakhan (Minister of Veterans Affairs and Secretary of State (Science, Research and Development), Lib.): Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to announce today my intention to address a number of Canada's veterans' urgent needs, including the extension of the veterans independence program for life for surviving spouses; greater health care benefits for veterans with severe disabilities; home care benefits for veterans on the waiting list; access to long term care benefits for allied veterans; enhanced compensation for former prisoners of war; and education assistance for children of members of the forces killed in the line of duty.
