L'une des principales innovations de l'entente consiste donc à cibler les espèces marines pêchées illégalement, y compris les plantes, qu'elles arrivent au port dans un navire de pêche ou dans un conteneur transporté par un grand bateau. Ainsi, cette mesure interdirait l'importation de poissons, de plantes marines et d'autres produits marins qui ont été pris, récoltés, traités, transportés, distribués ou vendus en contravention des lois internationales, pour reprendre les termes de la mesure, de façon à fermer cet accès illicite à notre marché.
The bill would therefore prohibit the importation of fish, marine plants and products that have been taken, harvested, processed, transported, distributed or sold in contravention of international law — to use the language of the bill — in order to foreclose this additional avenue of illicit access to our market.
