Il est surtout cultivé en Saskatchewan. Traditionnellement, en Alberta, le blé d'hiver est cultivé dans le sud de l'Alberta, dans la Chinook Valley, mais maintenant, grâce aux nouvelles variétés rustiques et celles dont le rendement est plus élevé, on le cultive aussi au centre de l'Alberta et surtout au centre de la Saskatchewan.
Traditionally, in Alberta the winter wheat was grown in southern Alberta, in the Chinook Valley, but now, with new varieties that are winter-hardy and higher yielding, it is moving into central Alberta and especially into central Saskatchewan.
