Le sénateur Martin : Si j'ai soulevé cette question, c'est parce que je crois que, dans le cas des minorités visibles d'une province comme la Colombie-Britannique, qui est loin du centre et qui borde le Pacifique, si nous voulons que ces minorités soient mieux représentées dans le secteur public, il y aurait lieu de sensibiliser les gens à l'importance du bilinguisme et à les encourager à planifier à long terme à cet égard.
Senator Martin: The reason I pointed out this situation is, if we look at visible minorities in a province like British Columbia, which is far away and close to the Pacific Rim, which is a focus, to increase the involvement of visible minorities in the public sector, this would be one way to educate and to encourage people to plan long term about the importance of bilingualism.
