4. L'Irlande et le Royaume-Uni peuvent, sans préjudice des paragraphes 2 et 3, maintenir leur réglementation nationale relative à la quarantaine pour tous les carnivores, primates, chauves-souris et autres animaux réceptifs à la rage, qui sont visés par la présente directive et pour lesquels il ne peut être démontré qu'ils sont nés sur l'exploitation d'origine et maintenus depuis leur naissance en captivité, sans que le maintien de ces réglementations puisse porter préjudice à la suppression des contrôles vétérinaires aux frontières entre États membres.
4. Ireland and the United Kingdom may without prejudice to paragraphs 2 and 3, retain their national regulations on quarantine for all carnivores, primates, bats and other animals susceptible to rabies covered by this Directive which cannot be shown to have been born on the holding of origin and kept in captivity since birth, although the retention of those regulations may not jeopardize the abolition of veterinary checks at the frontiers between Member States.
