Non contente de faire valoir les points forts du Canada atlantique et de sa population, l'APECA apporte elle aussi son soutien à la prospérité régionale grâce à son action dans trois secteurs principaux : l'expansion des entreprises, qui consiste à améliorer l'environnement commercial et à donner un coup de pouce aux entreprises aux stades du démarrage, de l'expansion et de la modernisation; le développement communautaire, soit la collaboration avec les communautés en vue de stimuler l'essor économique, d'améliorer l'infrastructure locale et de créer des débouchés dans l'économie locale; et la défense des intérêts et la coordination à l'égard des politiques. Dans ce dernier rôle, l'APECA se fait le champion du Canada atlantique et représente les intérêts de la région, à l'échelle nationale, dans des dossiers comme l'élaboration de politiques, la recherche et l'analyse, et elle collabore aussi avec d'autres ministères afin d'assurer la coordination des politiques et des programmes.
In addition to promoting the strengths of Atlantic Canada and its residents, ACOA partners in supporting regional prosperity through its efforts in three main areas: enterprise development, which is helping improve the business climate and lending a hand for individual business start-ups, modernizations and expansions; community development, which is working with communities to nurture economic growth, improve local infrastructure and develop opportunities in the local economy; and policy advocacy and coordination, which is about being a champion for Atlantic Canada by representing the region's interests at the national level in areas such as policy development, research and analysis, and by working with other departments to ensure coordination of policies and programs.

I feel that I have, in this parliament and in serving in this government, the chance to dream of a Canada of even greater achievement, of an activist and prudent government investing in Atlantic Canada and bringing the wealth and prosperity of the last few years to every region; the chance to dream of the end to the threat of dissolution, when francophones and anglophones in all parts of the country can work together as harmoniously as in my riding; and the chance for all Canadians, particularly the people of Atlantic Canada, to once again dream of a just society.
