A l'issue d'une longue négociation sur les dispositions administratives permettant la mise en oeuvre de l'accord de transit paraphé en décembre 1991, la Communauté et l'Autriche se sont accordées sur les bases de calcul du système des écopoints qui constitue la pièce maitresse de l'accord en permettant le status quo (assorti d'une certaine flexibilité) pour le transit des camions communautaires à travers l'Autriche, tout en réduisant de manière très substantielle la pollution engendrée par ces camions (60 % sur 12 ans).
Following lengthy negotiation of the administrative arrangements for the implementation of the transit agreement initialled in December 1991, the Community and Austria have determined the basis for the calculation of the Eco point system which is its centrepiece. The existing situation for Community heavy goods vehicles in transit through Austria will be allowed to continue (with a degree of flexibility being applied), but a substantial reduction in the pollution caused by these vehicles will be made (60% over twelve years).
