En raison de l'augmentation observee du C02(*) dans l'atmosphere, produit principalement par l'utilisation de combustibles fossiles, depuis le debut de l'ere industrielle, et en raison de l'augmentation de la concentration dans l'atmosphere d'autres gaz en traces (methane, oxyde d'azote, chlorofluorocarbones, ozone de la troposphere), la temperature moyenne d'equilibre a la surface du globe augmentera probablement de 1,5 a 5,5 C, lorsque la concentration de C02 aura atteint le double de sa valeur preindustrielle (au cours du siecle prochain).
Due to the observed increase in atmospheric CO2 (*), produced mainly by fossil-fuel burning, since the beginning of the industrial era, and due to the increase in the atmospheric concentration of other trace gases (methane, nitrous oxide, the chlorofluorocarbons, tropospheric ozone), the global equilibrium mean surface temperature is likely to increase by 1.5-5.5 C when the CO2 concentration has reached the double of its pre-industrial value (sometime in the course of the next century).
