(Return tabled) Question No. 862 Ms. Marie-Claude Morin: With regard to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada’s Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW): (a) how many clients have been served, for all provinces, since the program was created; (b) what is the program’s total cost to date; (c) what amounts were directed toward older workers in the riding of Saint-Hyacinthe Bagot (i) for the year 2007, (ii) for the year 2008, (iii) for the year 2009, (iv) for the year 2010, (v) for the year 2011, (vi) for the year 2012; (d) which programs support older workers who do not live in an eligible community; and (e) what are the impacts of the changes to employment insurance on TIOW following the 2012 federal budget announcements?

- (PL) Monsieur le Président, les travaux concernant le budget 2007 viennent confirmer le vieil adage selon lequel, tandis que les procédures peuvent être répétées, rien de tel qu’un budget de routine.
– (PL) Mr President, the work on the 2007 budget confirms the old adage that, while procedures may be repeated, there is no such thing as a routine budget.

7. réaffirme la position qu'il a exprimée au paragraphe 58 de sa résolution du 23 mai 2007 sur le rapport annuel du Conseil au Parlement européen sur les principaux aspects et les choix fondamentaux de la PESC, y compris leurs implications financières pour le budget général de l'Union européenne – 2005, à savoir: "estime que, jusqu'ici, une véritable évaluation des implications financières pour le budget de l'UE a été entravée par un manque d'informations proactives de la part du Conseil [...]; considère que, avec la signature du nouvel accord interinstitutionnel, le moment est venu de mettre en oeuvre, tant à la lettre que dans l'esprit, ces dispositions, qui viennent d'être clairement formalisées";
7. Reiterates its position expressed at paragraph 58 of its resolution of 23 May 2007 on the annual report from the Council to the European Parliament on the main aspects and basic choices of CFSP, including the financial implications for the general budget of the European Union – 2005, as follows: "Believes that a genuine assessment of the financial implications for the EU budget has hitherto been hampered by a lack of proactive information on the part of the Council, [...]; considers that, with the signing of the new Inter-institutional Agreement, the time has now come to implement both the letter and the spirit of these provisions, which have now been clearly formalised";

Nous soutenons réellement les paragraphes 105 et 109 du rapport Casaca qui viennent remédier à certaines de nos objections à l’encontre du fonds de pension volontaire des députés, mais puisque le rapport Casaca ne change rien à la situation actuelle, nous avons voté contre le fait d’accorder la décharge relative à l’exécution du budget du Parlement européen pour l’exercice 2007.
We do support paragraphs 105 and 109 of the Casaca report, which remedy some objections we have concerning the voluntary pension fund of the MEPs, but because the Casaca report does not change the existing situation, we have voted against giving the discharge in respect of the implementation of the European Parliament’s budget for the financial year 2007.

Je soutiens réellement les paragraphes 105 et 109 du rapport Casaca qui viennent remédier à certaines de nos objections à l’encontre du fonds de pension volontaire des députés, mais puisque le rapport Casaca ne change rien à la situation actuelle, j’ai voté contre le fait d’accorder la décharge relative à l’exécution du budget du Parlement européen pour l’exercice 2007.

Dans les mois qui viennent, le Comité a l’intention de revenir sur certaines d’entre elles et sur d’autres aspects du budget actuel afin d’examiner plus en profondeur les plans de dépenses du gouvernement pour l’exercice 2007-2008 et de faire rapport sur ses travaux à une date ultérieure.
In the coming months the Committee intends to return to some of these topics and other items in the current Estimates in order to more fully examine the government’s spending plans for the 2007-2008 fiscal year and to report on this work at a future date.
