Même si la création d’un brevet de l’Union constitue une mesure positive, au sens où elle contribuerait à redynamiser et à promouvoir l’innovation en Europe, je considère malgré tout que nous ne pouvons pas poursuivre ce but en enfreignant les principes fondamentaux de la citoyenneté européenne elle-même, en rompant la cohésion communautaire, en fragmentant le marché intérieur ou en introduisant de nouveaux facteurs de discrimination, d’inégalité et de déséquilibre.
Although the purpose of creating an EU patent is positive in the sense that it would help to revitalise and promote innovation in Europe, nevertheless, I would argue that this cannot be pursued with the violation of the fundamental principles of European citizenship itself, with the breaking of Community cohesion and fragmentation of the internal market or with the introduction of new factors of discrimination, inequality and imbalance.
