Since the last report, 2 further projects have been successfully completed, Bard I and Borkum West II. Together with the already completed Thornton Bank project, these three projects have resulted in additional 925 MW of wind capacity coming on stream thanks to the EEPR funding.

Trianel Borkum West II is the largest wind project in the German section of the North Sea and is Europe’s first wind farm that is fully owned by municipal companies and is 100% project-financed. The project concerns the planning, construction and operation of the wind farm. It will be funded by loans totalling EUR 550m advanced by 11 different banks: UniCredit Bank AG is the coordinator of the financing and the banking consortium, to which Dexia Crédit Local, KFW IPEX-Bank and Coöperatieve Centrale Raiffeisen-Boerenleenbank B.A ("Rabobank”) (as the initial mandated lead arranger”) as well as the European Investment Bank (EIB) and NRW.Bank also belong.

Une sous-station d’une capacité de 400 MW sera installée en mer selon le même principe de construction et desservira l’ensemble du parc éolien Trianel Borkum West II. Tous les travaux seront réalisés à partir de navires de construction et les composants de construction seront acheminés sur les lieux par barge.

The tripods will then be secured to the piles with concrete. A 400 MW substation for the entire Trianel Borkum West II wind farm will also be installed at sea using a similar construction principle. All the work will be carried out from installation ships and the construction components will be delivered to the site on cargo barges.
