IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

Compte tenu des nouvelles compétences transférées à la Communauté par le Traité d'Amsterdam, la question des migrations et en particulier de la lutte contre l'immigration illégale a également été intégrée dans tous les accords d'association et de coopération signés depuis 1999, notamment avec les pays tiers du bassin méditerranéen, ainsi que dans les accords de partenariat et de coopération avec les Nouveaux Etats Indépendants d'Europe Centrale et d'Asie Centrale, les Balkans et les Etats A.C.P. Des initiatives ont été prises avec certains pays et régions dans le cadre de la programmation de l'aide extérieure, contribuant directement à traduire ces nouvelles priorités en matière de gestion des flux migratoires.
In view of the new powers transferred to the Community by the Treaty of Amsterdam, the issue of immigration, and in particular the fight against illegal immigration, has also been incorporated into all of the association and cooperation agreements signed since 1999, including with third countries in the Mediterranean basin, and into the partnership and cooperation agreements with the new independent states of central Europe, central Asia, the Balkans and the ACP countries. Initiatives have been taken with some countries and regions in the context of the programming of external aid which have contributed directly to ensuring that these new priorities in the management of migratory flows are put into practice.

A key element in this is the strengthening of capacity building in the Mediterranean countries on borders/migration/asylum and more effective law enforcement cooperation to improve security throughout the Mediterranean.

PRODUCTS FROM EUROPEAN THIRD COUNTRIES AND FROM NON-EUROPEAN COUNTRIES IN THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN SUBMITTED FOR IMPORTATION SHALL ONLY BE IMPORTED IF THEY COMPLY WITH THE COMMON QUALITY STANDARDS SET OUT IN ANNEXES II/1 TO II/8 TO COUNCIL REGULATION NO 23 , TO ANNEXES I/1 TO I/9 TO COMMISSION REGULATION NO 58 ( 2 ) AND TO THE ANNEX TO COMMISSION REGULATION NO 64 ( 3 ) AS AMENDED BY COMMISSION REGULATION NO 21/63/EEC ( 4 ) .
