STAR 21 vise à mieux faire comprendre les questions liés à l'industrie aérospatiale européenne ainsi qu'à susciter une action assurant que cette industrie pourra pleinement contribuer à garantir l'avenir politique et économique de l'Europe.
STAR 21 aims to broaden understanding of aerospace-related issues in Europe and trigger action which will ensure that its aerospace industry can play a full part in securing Europe's economic and political future.

L'aérospatiale joue ainsi un rôle fondamental, en ce qui concerne les applications de défense mais pour apporter une solution au "capability gap" - une étape essentielle pour la crédibilité de la politique européenne de sécurité et de défense.
Aerospace is thus a key component, both as regards defence applications, and to remedy the capability gap - an essential step for the credibility of the European Security and Defence Policy.
