L. considérant que, le 27 avril 2014, le Parlement des Maldives, en votant la fin du moratoire sur la peine de mort qui était en vigueur depuis 1954, a autorisé la condamnation des mineurs dès l'âge de sept ans, lesquels peuvent être tenus responsables et exécutés dès leur dix-huitième anniversaire et croupissent en prison jusqu'à leur exécution; que cette situation est contraire aux obligations internationales en matière de droits de l'homme qui incombent aux Maladives en tant qu'État partie à la convention relative aux droits de l'enfant;
L. whereas, on 27 April 2014, the Parliament of the Maldives voted to end the moratorium on the death penalty in place since 1954, thus allowing the sentencing of minors as young as seven, who can be held responsible and executed as soon as they reach 18 and are left to languish in jail until then; whereas this goes against the international human rights obligations of the Maldives as a state party to the Convention on the Rights of the Child;

Urges the Government of Bangladesh to bring the state security forces, including the police and the RAB, back within the bounds of the law; strongly calls on the Bangladeshi authorities to put an end to the RAB’s impunity by ordering investigations and prosecutions in respect of alleged illegal killings by RAB forces; points out that it will closely monitor the proceedings in the Narayanganj murder case, in connection with which three RAB officers have been arrested and are awaiting judicial proceedings following the abduction and killing of seven people in Narayanganj in April 2014;
