Hushkits are devices fitted to older design aircraft engines to reduce their noise, usually by very small amount but, sufficient to allow the aircraft to be recertificated to the higher existing international standard. The hushkits Regulation "froze" the fleet of the noisiest recertificated aircraft, which can be registered in, or operated into, the EU.
