De nombreux États membres de l’Union européenne doivent se justifier quant au soutien qu’ils ont jadis apporté aux autorités indonésiennes au moment de la répression de la population du Timor oriental. Ces États membres et leurs fabricants d’armes ont également des comptes à rendre au sujet des énormes profits réalisés au détriment de vies innocentes et du bien-être des populations et du droit à vivre librement sans oppression ni violations des droits de l’homme.
Many Member States of the European Union have a lot to answer for as regards their own support in the past for the Indonesian authority while it was oppressing the people of East Timor, and also for the fact that these countries and their arms manufacturing firms have made huge profits at the expense of innocent lives and the wellbeing of people and the right of people to live freely without oppression and human rights abuses.
