In the field of the antitrust policy, the following initiatives are noteworthy : (I) the revised regulation which extends the jurisdiction of the Commission to certain cross-border operations; (ii) the communication on co-operation between the Commission and national competition authorities on the application of Articles 85 and 86 which will facilitate the decentralisation of the European law; (iii) the new communication on agreements of minor importance which aims at reducing the burden on companies to notify agreement; (iv) the communication on the definition of the relevant market which increases transparency of Community practice, and finally (v) the exercises of reflection on the policy regarding vertical restrictions of competition and regarding horizontal agreements which should emerge in the year 1998 on specific proposals of the Commission.
