(Return tabled) Question No. 681 Mr. Arnold Chan: With regard to Service Canada: (a) what products and services does it offer and when did these products and services begin to be offered; (b) what is the service standard for all on line products and what is the current average wait time for these products; (c) what is the service standard for in-person wait times and what is the wait time at each in-person site; (d) what is the cost per transaction for each of the services offered, broken down by different delivery channel; (e) what is the transaction volume of each Service Canada centre and what year did that centre open; and (f) what is the number of full time equivalency positions for each centre and for the other divisions of the Department, from 2008 to the present?

Notre attention se porte actuellement sur l'Ontario, qui travaille à établir son registre sur les fournisseurs. Pour sa part, le Québec est à mettre en place son système d'information sur les médicaments, une tâche que la province doit exécuter si nous voulons atteindre la cible de 50 p. 100 des données.
Where we're at today is looking to Ontario, in terms of the provider registry, to bring that on board, and we're looking at Quebec in terms of the drug information system they need to get on board before we can get to that 50% of data.

Certainly, as you say, the major objective of the Doha Round was to improve the opportunities for developing countries in the international marketplace, and I think that while the current focus has been on discussions between the U.S. and Europe, the issue of development, improving the situation of developing countries, is still front and centre in the negotiations.

Notes that corruption seems to have been widespread in Croatia and remains a serious overall problem; welcomes the efforts of the Croatian Government to take a strong stance against all forms of corruption; stresses that the Government gave special attention to the legal and institutional framework for fighting corruption, including investigations, prosecutions and inter-agency and international cooperation; takes note of the high-profile anti-corruption cases under way involving a former Prime Minister, two former ministers, high-profile civil servants and numerous general managers of state-owned firms; expects transparent and fair trials and reminds the Croatian authorities of the importance of protecting the corruption investigation process from political interference; welcomes the creation of special anti-corruption and organised crime departments in the four largest courts in the country, where judges are screened and receive additional training; requests OLAF to closely cooperate with the Croatian authorities in order to shed light on the potential secondary corruption which may be generated within the EU Institutions;

L’attention de l’Union européenne se porte actuellement sur la réforme de la police et notamment sur un accord conclu en octobre 2005 qui confirme les principes fondamentaux des changements souhaités: la dévolution au niveau de l’État de toutes les compétences dans les matières relevant de la police, l’élimination de toute ingérence politique dans le fonctionnement des forces de police et une délimitation des unités territoriales de police selon des critères fonctionnels.
The European Union’s attention is currently focused on the reform of the police in particular, an agreement on which was concluded in October 2005, confirming that the underlying principles of the desired changes were the jurisdiction of the whole State over police matters, the exclusion of political influence and the necessity of functioning police districts.

Notre attention porte actuellement avant toute chose sur les critères politiques car, si ceux-ci ne sont pas pleinement remplis, la question d'entamer des négociations ne se posera pas.
