Considers that maritime and river transport cannot be considered in isolation from land and air transport and that links to a port's hinterland are of great importance to its commercial success, and that it is therefore necessary to establish interconnections between ports, inland logistics platforms and "dry ports"; with this in mind, also believes that the co-modal participation of ports is needed in relation to both the trans-European transport networks (TEN-Ts) and the future Community green corridors to ensure better exploitation of transport capacity in the area of cabotage and river transport, and also as regards connections with land and air transport, so as to ensure a coherent and genuine transport policy;

L'exercice de la surveillance complémentaire conformément à l'article 2 n'implique, en aucune manière, que les autorités compétentes sont tenues d'exercer une surveillance sur l'entreprise d'assurances du pays tiers, l'entreprise de réassurance du pays tiers, la société holding d'assurances ou la société holding mixte d'assurances considérées individuellement.

(4) Dans sa communication du 10 octobre 2001 sur les conséquences des attentats terroristes perpétrés aux États-Unis pour le secteur du transport aérien , la Commission a fait part de son intention d'examiner les montants et les conditions d'assurance exigés pour l'octroi de licences d'exploitation afin d'assurer une approche harmonisée. Dans sa communication du 2 juillet 2002 concernant l'assurance du secteur du transport aérien après les attentats perpétrés aux États-Unis le 11 septembre 2001 , la Commission a également déclaré qu'elle continuerait de suivre l'évolution du marché de l'assurance dans le domaine aérien en ce qui concerne la révision des montants et conditions d'assurance requis dans le cadre de la délivrance des licences d'exploitation.
(4) The Commission, in its Communication of 10 October 2001 regarding the repercussions of the terrorist attacks in the United States on the air transport industry , declared its intention to examine the amounts and conditions of insurance required for the issue of operating licences in order to ensure a harmonised approach; also, the Commission stated in its Communication of 2 July 2002 regarding insurance in the Air Transport sector following the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 in the United States , that it would continue to monitor developments on the aviation insurance market with regard to the revision of the amounts and conditions of insurance required for the issue of operating licences.
