Karen Redman moved, That Bill C-9, in Clause 24, be amended by adding after line 32 on page 19 the following: " (1.1) Paragraph 48(1)(b) of the Act is replaced by the following: (a.1) a park or park reserve as defined in subsection 2(1) of the Canada National Parks Act, (b) federal lands other than those mentioned in paragraph (a) or (a.1), (1.2) Section 48 of the Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (1): Ecological integrity (1.1) In deciding whether or not a project may cause significant adverse environmental effects on a park or park reserve as defined in subsection 2(1) of the Canada National Parks Act, the Minister shall take into account its ecological integrity, as that expression is defined in that subsection" .

Mme Karen Redman: Monsieur le président, que l'amendement couvre ou non les articles 32 et 33 ne change rien à notre opposition de fond à cet amendement, pour les raisons déjà indiquées.
Mrs. Karen Redman: Mr. Chair, I would say the inclusion of clauses 32 and 33 doesn't change our substantive objection to including this for the reasons that have already been given.
