Calls on the Commission to propose reforms to tackle the various loopholes in the savings tax directive; urges the Commission, in particular, to broaden the technical scope of the savings tax directive, so as to cover all forms of financial assets, and its geographical scope, given that some Europeans have moved their money to Asia (especially Hong Kong, Singapore and Macao), taking advantage of their tight banking secrecy laws which facilitate tax evasion; in that connection, also urges the Commission to negotiate specific agreements with these countries on savings tax with a view to concluding an international agreement on the application of measures equivalent to those implemented by EU Member States under Directive 2003/48/EC;
