I. whereas on 15 June 2015, in view of the UN peace talks, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki–moon called for a renewed humanitarian pause for at least two weeks during Ramadan to allow critical assistance to reach all Yemenis in need, but whereas no agreement was reached; whereas on 19 June 2015 Yemen’s warring parties failed to reach a ceasefire agreement during diplomatic talks brokered by UN Special Envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed;

10. exprime son soutien total aux efforts des Nations unies et de l'envoyé spécial du Secrétaire général des Nations unies pour le Yémen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad, pour faciliter les négociations de paix entre les parties; soutient les efforts déployés par Oman pour obtenir un cessez-le-feu entre les houthistes et les forces fidèles au gouvernement du Yémen, en tant que première étape vers une solution politique négociée;

G. whereas another UK citizen, 72-year-old Masood Ahmad, a member of the Ahmaddiya religious community, was only recently released on bail after having been arrested in 2012 on charges of citing from the Quran, which is considered as blasphemy in the case of Ahmaddis who are not recognised as Muslims and are forbidden to ‘behave as Muslims’ under Section 298-C of the criminal code;

6. souligne qu'une société civile véritable et indépendante revêt une importance fondamentale pour soutenir une transformation pacifique et inclusive du pays sur le plan politique et social; invite les autorités égyptiennes à permettre à la société civile de fonctionner librement; les invite à libérer immédiatement toutes les personnes détenues sans inculpation et à garantir une procédure en justice équitable aux autres; demande, en particulier, l'annulation des condamnations de Ahmad Maher, Ahmad Douma, Mohamed Adel, Abdel Fatah, Mona Seif et Ahmed Abdallah, ainsi que de tous les autres jeunes militants pacifiques condamnés à des peines de prison, et la libération immédiate et inconditionnelle de tous ces militants actuellement en détention; demande une enquête sur les allégations de mauvais traitements contre Abdel Fatah et sa femme;

Stresses that a genuine and independent civil society is of fundamental importance in supporting peaceful and inclusive political and social transformation of the country; calls on the Egyptian authorities to allow civil society to operate freely; calls on them to release immediately all persons detained without charge and to ensure a fair judicial process for the others; calls, in particular, for the annulment of the sentences handed down to Ahmad Maher, Ahmad Douma, Mohamed Adel, Abdel Fatah, Mona Seif and Ahmed Abdallah and all other peaceful youth activists condemned to prison sentences, and for the immediate and unconditional release of all of these activists currently in detention; calls for an investigation into the allegations of ill-treatment of Abdel Fatah and his wife;

L. whereas a large number of prominent human rights, political and youth activists have been arbitrarily arrested and sentenced in relation to their peaceful activities since July 2013; whereas human rights defenders Alaa Abdel Fatah, Mona Seif and Ahmed Abdallah were arrested while peacefully demonstrating against military trials of civilians, and were later sentenced on 5 January 2014; whereas the National Council for Human Rights visited Ahmad Maher, Mohamed Adel, Ahmad Douma and Alaa Adbel Fatah in prison and denounced their conditions of imprisonment; whereas the headquarters of the Egyptian Centre for Economic and Social Rights were raided by the police on 18 December and their staff arrested; whereas hundreds of students involved in anti-coup protests on university campuses have been arrested, at least five students from al-Azhar University have been killed, and several students have had severe sentences handed down to them;
