Definition: States of subjective distress and emotional disturbance, usually interfering with social functioning and performance, arising in the period of adaptation to a significant life change or a stressful life event. The stressor may have affected the integrity of an individual's social network (bereavement, separation experiences) or the wider system of social supports and values (migration, refugee status), or represented a major developmental transition or crisis (going to school, becoming a parent, failure to attain a cherished personal goal, retirement). Individual predisposition or vulnerability plays an important role in the risk of occurrence and the shaping of the manifestations of adjustment disorders, but it is nevertheless assumed that the condition would not have arisen without the stressor. The manifestations vary and include depressed mood, anxiety or worry (or mixture of these), a feeling of inability to cope, plan ahead, or continue in the present situation, as well as some degree of disability in 9the performance of daily routine. Conduct disorders may be an associated feature, particularly in adolescents. L’article 18 de l’acte relatif aux conditions d’adhésion à l’Union européenne de la République de Croatie et aux adaptations du traité sur l’Union européenne, du traité sur le fonctionnement de l’Union européenne et du traité instituant la Communauté européenne de l’énergie atomique prévoit que les mesures transitoires figurant à l’annexe V dudit acte s’appliquent à la Croatie.
Article 18 of the Act concerning the conditions of accession of the Republic of Croatia and the adjustments to the Treaty on European Union, the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and to the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community provides for transitional measures applying in respect of Croatia and set out in Annex V to this Act.

Pursuant to point 8 of Annex III to the Act concerning the conditions of accession of the Republic of Croatia and the adjustments to the Treaty on European Union, the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and to the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community, the quantity taken into account pursuant to Article 9 of Directive 2003/87/EC is increased as a result of Croatia's accession by the quantity of allowances that Croatia shall auction pursuant to Article 10(1) of Directive 2003/87/EC.

'Point 4(a) of Section J of Annex VI to Council Regulation (EEC) No 1408/71 of 14 June 1971 on the application of social security schemes to employed persons, to self-employed persons and to members of their families moving within the Community, as amended and updated by Council Regulation (EEC) No 2001/83 of 2 June 1983, as adapted by Annex I, Part VIII, to the Act concerning the Conditions of Accession of the Kingdom of Spain and the Portuguese Republic and the Adjustments to the Treaties, must be interpreted as not requiring the competent Netherlands institution, to which an application for a pro rata invalidity benefit has been made by a worker who has suffered an incapacity for work which arose in another Member State, to treat the periods of insurance completed by that worker in the Netherlands after 1 July 1967 under a special scheme for civil servants as if they were periods of insurance completed under the Wet op de Arbeidsongeschiktheidsverzekering of 18 February 1966'.

8. Les adaptations aux traités visées à l'article O du Traité d'Union européenne qui devraient être apportées en cas d'adhésion de la Finlande devraient bien évidemment non seulement tenir compte du cas spécifique de la Finlande, mais aussi du fait qu'un certain nombre d'autres pays de l'AELE adhéreraient à l'Union en même temps.
8. As regards the adjustments to the Treaties referred to in article O of the Treaty on European Union which would have to be made in the case of Finnish accession, these would obviously have to take into account not only the specific case of Finland but also the fact that a number of other EFTA countries would be joining the Union at the same time.
