Having regard to the Voluntary Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Indonesia (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Agreement’), which following ratification by the Parties entered into force on 1 May 2014,

Conformément à la décision 2013/486/UE du Conseil (3), l’accord de partenariat volontaire entre l’Union européenne et la République d’Indonésie sur l’application des réglementations forestières, la gouvernance et les échanges commerciaux de produits du bois vers l’Union européenne (ci-après dénommé «accord») a été signé le 30 septembre 2013, sous réserve de sa conclusion.
In accordance with Council Decision 2013/486/EU (3), the Voluntary Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Indonesia on forest law enforcement, governance and trade in timber products to the European Union (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Agreement’) was signed on 30 September 2013, subject to its conclusion.

La signature, au nom de l’Union, de l’accord de partenariat volontaire entre l’Union européenne et la République d’Indonésie sur l’application des réglementations forestières, la gouvernance et les échanges commerciaux de produits du bois vers l’Union européenne est autorisée, sous réserve de la conclusion dudit accord (4).
The signing on behalf of the Union of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Indonesia on forest law enforcement, governance and trade in timber products to the European Union is hereby authorised, subject to the conclusion of the said Agreement (4).

The negotiations with the Republic of Indonesia have been completed and the Voluntary Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Indonesia on forest law enforcement, governance and trade in timber products to the European Union (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Agreement’) was initialled on 4 May 2011.

Today, European Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs, José Bononge Endundo -Minister for Environment, Nature Conservation and Tourism- of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Belgian Minister for Development Cooperation Charles Michel, on behalf of the EU Belgian Presidency, signed a declaration to launch the negotiations for a voluntary partnership agreement on the export of legal timber to the EU, named Forest Law Enforcement, Government and Trade agreement (FLEGT).
